The DHCF MCAC Access Subcommittee is holding a virtual meeting at 9:30 AM on 11/4/2020 on Perinatal Health. The Subcommittee will hear from experts and stakeholders on perinatal health, then hold a group discussion on the topic. At the end of the meeting, the Subcommittee will also finish its discussion of access issues related to the use of technology for health care. Experts, stakeholders, and the entire group should try to frame their discussion around the following 3 questions:
The DHCF MCAC Access Subcommittee will meet on 9/9/20 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am to discuss access issues related to the use of technology to 1) access health care; and 2) contact beneficiaries and stakeholders. The meeting will hear about policy changes around telehealth and provider technological support during the pandemic, along with a call for affected community members and providers to identify remaining access issues regarding the use of telehealth.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a final rule effective March 17, 2014, that contains an outcome-oriented definition of home and community-based services (HCBS) settings. The purpose of the federal regulation, in large part, is to ensure that people receive Medicaid HCBS in settings that are integrated in and support full access to the greater community.

Proposed contracts to be submitted to DC. Council for approval
Today, in collaboration with the Department of Behavioral Health, the District of Columbia Department of Health Care Finance (DHCF) announced its intent to apply for an 1115 Medicaid Behavioral Health Transformation Demonstration from the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The proposed demonstration combines new innovative treatment strategies with proven community-based services to promote better health outcomes for the nearly one third of Medicaid beneficiaries with a behavioral health diagnosis.
The Department of Health Care Finance (DHCF) is working with the Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) and other District agencies and stakeholders to develop a Section 1115 Medicaid Waiver to transform Medicaid’s system for behavioral health services in the District of Columbia.
