Mayor Vincent C. Gray announced today an agreement in principle with the Receiver overseeing the DC Chartered Health Plan that has been in receivership for the past eight months. The agreement paves the way to reimburse hospitals and the array of community based providers for the costs incurred in delivering health care services to more than 105,000 Medicaid and Alliance beneficiaries who were assigned to the DC Chartered Health Plan. Many of these providers have not received payment from DC Chartered since April 2013.

Beginning May 1, 2013, if you call the District of Columbia Medicaid eligibility IVR system (202) 906-8319 to verify the May 2013 eligibility of a member, you will hear that the member is eligible and enrolled with DC Chartered Health Plan. This means that the individual is an eligible member of AmeriHealth District of Columbia. The DC Medicaid eligibility verification system will be updated on or around May 19 to state that these members are enrolled with AmeriHealth District of Columbia.
Federal regulations require that states contracting with managed care plans ensure that organizations, independent of both the District and the managed care plans perform an annual external review of the quality, timeliness and access to health care services furnished by each managed care plan. In fulfillment of this requirement, DHCF contracts with the Delmarva Foundation for Medical Care, Inc. (Delmarva) to serve as the external quality review organization (EQRO).
