Transmittal 26-27 - FY 2027 Medicaid Hospice Rates

The purpose of this transmittal is to inform you that effective October 1, 2026, through September 30, 2027, the Medicaid payment rates for hospice care have been updated in accordance with Section 1814(i)(1)(C)(ii)(VII) of the Social Security Act. While this Act provides for an annual increase in payment rates for hospice care, the hospice physician service rates are not increased under this provision.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) releases modifications of the Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) code set annually. Level I of the HCPCS are CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes, maintained by the American Medical Association (AMA), that are used primarily to identify medical services and procedures furnished by physicians and other health care professionals.

The purpose of this transmittal is to inform all DC Medicaid Skilled Nursing Service Providers that, for dates of service effective on or after October 1, 2026, the Department of Health Care Finance (DHCF) will adjust the skilled nursing service rates.
