On October 3, 2013, the Department of Health Care Finance (DHCF) notified providers that due to the failure of the United States Congress to pass a budget for fiscal year 2014 and the District’s resulting budget difficulties, DHCF is not in a position to pay fee-for-service providers for the health care services delivered to the District’s Medicaid and Alliance beneficiaries.

In an effort to best support providers during this difficult time, DHCF will provide a letter to all active and enrolled providers to use in securing lines of credit to continue their operations. Providers must request a letter by calling DHCF's Office of Public and Private Provider Services at (202) 698-2000. Providers should be prepared to provide their Medicaid Provider ID Number at the time of the request.
