DC Pharmacy Provider Network To Begin Dispensing Medications To Health Care Safety Net Alliance Members

Monday, September 30, 2013
Only DCPPN network pharmacies to fill Alliance prescriptions starting on Oct 1
(Washington, DC) The Department of Health Care Finance (DHCF) today announced that, effective Tuesday, October 1, 2013, the District of Columbia Pharmacy Provider Network (DCPPN) will begin dispensing formulary medications to Health Care Safety Net Alliance (Alliance) members. Only those pharmacies participating in the DCPPN will be allowed to fill prescriptions for Alliance members.

There are currently twenty-four (24) network pharmacies participating in the DCPPN which are located throughout the city with representation in each ward and many have extended evening and weekend business hours. DHCF is pleased to offer Alliance members this expanded network of pharmacies where they may obtain prescribed medications.
All Alliance providers must provide a new 30-day prescription for each medication their patient is currently taking, even if there are refills left on the current prescription. The DCPPN pharmacy will not be able to request a transfer of any prescription from the closed Unity pharmacies.

On October 1, 2013, prescribers may call-in, fax, or e-prescribe new 30-day prescriptions to any one of the DCPPN pharmacies selected by the Alliance member patient from the list of DCPPN pharmacies which can be found at http://tinyurl.com/DCPPN-list-and-locations.
