DHCF Receives Federal Approval For $18 Million Technical Adjustment to Its Managed Care Rates

Monday, August 26, 2013
Receiver to initiate implementation of settlement distribution payments to providers

(Washington, DC) Today the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) informed the Department of Health Care Finance (DHCF) that it has approved the agency’s technical adjustment to the managed care rates for the years 2010 through 2012. This is the last approval required to move forward with the District’s and Chartered Health Plan’s settlement agreement.

As a result, DHCF will make a payment to Chartered Health Plan for approximately $18 million on August 30, 2013. This will allow the Receiver to implement Part I of the settlement and distribute $18 million in payments to providers on a pro-rata basis. The payments will be accompanied by remittance advice listing the providers’ allowed claims together with a summary page setting out the total claim amount owed as of September 4, 2013.
